NEW ST. PHILIP’S COLLEGE RADIO AND TV COMMERCIALS HIT THE AIR
Bilingual commercials shot with new high-tech camera
SAN ANTONIO (July 23, 2008) --- TV commercials to boost enrollment at St. Philip’s College are airing now in a format that is beyond high-definition
The commercials, which include two English-language and one Spanish-language version, were shot with the most advanced TV camera on the market and employ testimonials from graduates, alumni and employers of SPC students, said SPC College Director of Community and Public Relations Matari Jones-Gunter.
“Our goal is to increase awareness about St. Philip's and the incredibly competitive programs we have to offer,” said Gunter. “The new camera being utilized by Apple Productions gave our commercials an extra sharp look and feel,” Gunter said.
“St. Philip's College was excited to be one of the first in San Antonio to exploit the superior technology, to create stunning imagery using our Red One Digital Cinema Camera in their marketing program,” said Mark Crabtree, the TV commercial director-cinematographer and president of Apple Productions.
Not your normal digital camera, the Red One records more than 10 times the resolution of current standard definition TV systems and more than four times the resolution of high definition. “The Red One creates a 35mm (film) look with the cost savings and immediacy of digital acquisition,” said Crabtree.
Port San Antonio Chief Executive Officer Wayne Alexander gave his testimonial before the Red One camera from the perspective of an employer: “We hire St. Philip's College Graduates because they're ready to handle challenging situations and produce from day one,” Alexander said.
St. Philip’s College alumni joining Wayne Alexander in the commercial included County Commissioner Tommy Adkisson; and Jesse Murillo, a St. Philip’s College student who transferred to and graduated from Cornell University. Murillo has been seen on many recent VIA bus shelter ads promoting enrollment with the college during a time of high gas prices.
"The TV and radio commercial creative concept highlighted the benefits of St. Philip's College. Students learn real world skills, earn a real college degree, without going into real debt,” said Susan McBeth, the TV commercial producer and CEO of Apple. “That's of real value today!" McBeth said of the college.
