Office of Advising & Assessment
Advising & Assessment is a partner in the enrollment process. First-time and
transfer students meet with advisors to:
- Appropriate course placement
- Sign up for the Accuplacer test
Texas law requires that you complete assessments in reading, writing, and
mathematics before you enroll in college. The Advising office will use your
Accuplacer scores or transfer courses to determine what level you are at and
what courses you are eligible for. Test results determine whether you meet
program and/or course requirements.
Philip's College offers the Accuplacer, which is a computerized adaptive
test. The Accuplacer test is available:
Mondays through Thursdays 9:00 a.m.- 7:00 p.m.
Saturdays 9:00 a.m. -11:00 a.m. (Cash only accepted for payment on
Saturdays)
There is a $15.00 fee for the test, you must provide a social security number and a valid picture ID is required
to test. For more information on when the Accuplacer is available, please contact
the Advising office at (210) 486-2830.
Details of assessment and advisement procedures are available in the SPC
class schedule, either in hard copy in the Welcome Center,
or online at eCatalog
