We continue our efforts to offer a variety of learning opportunities on campus for the upcoming year with our Employee Development Brown Bag Sessions. Sessions are open to ALL NVC employees -- staff, faculty, and any district employees working on the NVC campus.

In this introduction to Process Improvement and the Plan, Do, Check, and Act Model - PDCA , we will review the benefits of using the FOCUS PDCA model and we will also have an actual brainstorming session as we discuss ways to improve processes at NVC. Employees will have an opportunity to discuss PDCA, how we can use it in our workplaces, and challenges surrounding the actual implementation of process improvement initiatives and upcoming training.

Assertive communication consists of honesty, appropriate tone and words, respect, and direct dialogue. This type of communication should always focus us on Win-Win outcome in our communication with peers, supervisors, and students. This session will address all of these characteristics in our daily communication, using role plays and providing checklists to self-assess of how we view our own communication skills.

An engaged employee is a committed employee. This session will bring insight to performance measures we can focus on for creating a culture of committed employees and the resources for developing those key measures. Discussion will revolve around employee initiative, work reliability, self-leadership, and communication abilities.
