Foundations in Cooperative Learning Fall 2009 ( 7 hour workshop )
This extended course allows time for students to complete the Beginner Cooperative Learning training course in one day, helping them see the difference between functioning teams and ordinary classroom groups. It is followed by a shorter follow-up session (Sept 26) needed for completing the full course. This course will cover Theory, Foundations, Application, and Implementation of Basic Cooperative Learning techniques. By working with the same group members for the entire session, students will have a strong model for seeing how these techniques can help develop both social and academic bonds between students, which will enhance their overall success and learning potential.
*For Certificate of Completion (available to all faculty) and Stipend ($200 available to part-time adjunct faculty ONLY), completion of this course, including follow-up, or Parts 1-4, a lesson plan, a reflection paragraph posted to the website (meeting the established criteria) are required.
